How to Remove Fear From Business Finances

Money Mindset

Many times I’ve heard from small business owners that they haven’t looked at their books in months because they are scared of what they might see. They know they are seeing some profits, so it seems easier to keep doing business as usual and avoid what the numbers say.

But let me tell you something. numbers are just that…numbers. When we remove the fear that so commonly surrounds them, it’s like a heavy weight off our shoulders. Not only that, but we can use them as a useful tool for your business.

Maybe your e-book crushed it last month even though you hardly promoted it, but your sales from merchandise didn’t do so hot. If you knew that, you could decide to focus your time on promoting that e-book next month instead of creating more merchandise.

Knowing your numbers means not having to wonder or worry about your profits. Instead, you get clear information that allows you to make informed decisions.

To remove fear from business finances, we have to get familiar with them!

Once we familiarize ourselves, we can understand that numbers are AWESOME and can tell us so much about our businesses.

I’m not saying that you have to be in your books coding transactions and running reports – that’s what a bookkeeper is for. What I *am* saying is that you should know what the numbers mean on your P&L and what the balance sheet is telling you.

I am of the belief that business owners should know what is going on with their numbers, even when they are not the person managing them on a day-to-day basis. When you have someone in your corner who champions your learning, this is easy to do!

Own your money, don’t let it own you!

Money is a tool for us to use.

To reach our goals.

To provide for ourselves and our family.

To give us the freedom to live life the way we want to.

And nothing more.

Not to be feared.

Not to be dreaded.

Not to bring us anxiety.

When we learn to let go of the fear that surrounds finances and instead focus on the value our numbers provide, beautiful things can happen✨
